Pie and pea supper raises cash for Barnsley carea home trips

Have your say

The wish of a Barnsley care home resident to organise a pie and pea supper and entertainment raised money for a fund set up to pay for trips and provide entertainment all year around.

Staff at Deangate Care Home, Mapplewell, made the resident’s wish come true by helping to organise the event and inviting members of the community and families to the home.

The Deangate care home houses 50 elderly residents and has a dementia unit.

Liam Mills, activities coordinator, said: “We enjoy engaging with the public, and having the opportunity to celebrate a fine fireworks display with a slap-up supper created a real buzz in the home.”

Residents at the home are invited to post suggestions for events and activities on a wish tree.
