PICTURES: Troops pay tribute to Armed Forces in Doncaster
Doncaster residents lined the town centre to watch troops walk in a parade to pay tribute to the nation's Armed Forces.
The parade started in Sir Nigel Gresley Square at 9.45am on Saturday. This was after a welcoming speech by the Civic Mayor of Doncaster, Councillor David Nevett, who gave thanks to the hundreds of thousands of brave men and women who have served our country.
It travel along Waterdale, College Road, Duke Street;, St Sepulchre Gate and the High Street. A salute to be taken at the Mansion House at 10am before the troops made their way back to Sir Nigel Gresley Square.
From 10:45am, people were given the chance to meet the troops and enjoy attractions in the square, including live music, exhibits from military support groups and veterans groups, military vehicles, a mini circus workshop and face painting.

John Holdridge, of Scawthorpe, said his son being linked to the forces had made he day poignant for him.
“I’ve come to show support for the Armed Forces for what they have done and what they continue to do for the country. Also, my son is involved with the air cadets, so we wanted to support them wherever we can.”
Vic Hanson, of Caring for Foces Amputees, said the day should be celebrated for all who have served, in the past and in the present.
“It’s important because of all the troops still serving and all the troops gone by.”
