Around 600 children from primary and secondary Catholic schools across the city gathered at All Saints School on Granville Road on Friday for The Big Sing event.

They were also visited by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun Anne Murphy and band CJM helped them get into the spirit of the occasion with a live performance on the stage.

Rachael Hartley, transition co-ordinator at All Saints who helped organise the event, said: “It was fantastic. We had pretty much 600 children in one room and it was very uplifting to have everyone in the same room singing.

“The event is held at either All Saints or Notre Dame High School every year and it’s all about coming together for singing and prayers.”

The day included a morning of lively music, led by CJM, who travel the country to give youngsters an experience of “vibrant worship” before an afternoon of reflection and prayer.
