Amanda Jones from Beighton was one of eight people from South Yorkshire to be invited to the wedding by the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire.

She was chosen to attend the ceremony because of the work she has done with the Beighton Environmental Group to tidy and brighten the Sheffield suburb.

She said: "It has been one of my life's highlights. A stunning setting, beautiful weather and thousands of happy, smiling people.

"It was a truly joyous occasion and I hope the rest of their married life is as perfect as the start of it was."

Amanda took her husband Paul as her guest, the couple sending us these fantastic pictures of what looked like an amazing occasion.

Also there was Gillian Goldstraw from Sheffield Lane Top who was invited to the ceremony because of her work with a Shiregreen Scout group.

Gillian - who took her daughter Jasmine as her guest - said it had been a lovely day - but very tiring.

She said: "We went down on the train this morning and when we got there we were ushered in on our own private path. Once we got in the castle you could choose where to sit and we picked a really good spot.

"Inside the grounds it was not what we were expecting - really quiet and calm and a bit surreal.

"We watched everyone coming in like Idris Elba, James Corden, James Blunt, David Beckham and George Clooney. When people spotted them everyone stood up to get a photo.

Gillian said they were only about 10-12 feet away from the celebrities and also saw members of the Royal Family and William and Harry walking down in full uniform

"That was really nice," said Gillian.

"When the ceremony began there were no screens outside so we just listened to the whole service - you could hear a pin drop. And people cheered at different bits.

"When they came out everyone stood outside and then the carriage came past with Harry and Meghan.

"It has been a really long and tiring day but lovely. And I've got a bit of sunburn on my head as well!"

Amanda and Gillian were among 1,200 deserving members of the public invited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to attend the Royal Wedding at Windsor, each with a companion of their choice.
