Famous faces joined budding footballers on the pitch to take part in a sporting challenge to help two local charities.

Famous faces joined budding footballers on the pitch to take part in a sporting challenge to help two local charities.

Reverned and the Makers frontman Jon McClure joined This is England actor Thomas Turgoose for the Sheffield Wednesday Charity Cup.

The unique city football event raises money for St Luke’s Hospice and the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.

Saturday’s game saw two Sheffield Wednesday teams - home and away sides - battle it out in a bid to grasp the Charity Cup at the Hillsborough Stadium.

The winners were the away team who were presented with the cup by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun Anne Murphy.

John Pearson, events manager at the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, said the event was growing year on year.
