It was part of a wider blitz on crime under Operation Duxford which saw officers flood the streets of Eastwood, Wellgate, Brinsworth and Kimberworth.

In total, officers carried out 16 raids, arrested 12 people, retrieved five knives, seized three cars and issued five tickets for parking offences.

Chief Inspector Rebecca Chapman, who was in charge of the operation, said: “Today is all about us showing our communities the work that we do, reassuring them that we are listening and that they can have confidence in us.

“This is very much a team effort and without the support of all the districts, additional resources from our operational support unit and our partner agencies, we would not be able to achieve the results that we have.”

As well as early morning drugs raids, officers carried out traffic stops, conducted parking enforcement and met with residents to listen to their concerns about crime in the community.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson, who joined officers on the raids, said: "Along with our partners, we’re targeting those making other people’s lives a misery.

"Where there are people breaking the law, we will respond vigorously.
