Picnic reunion for old pupils

Have your say

GENERATIONS of pupils are set to return to an old village school’s reunion picnic.

Anybody with a connection to Bolsterstone School in Bolsterstone, which closed 20 years ago, is invited to the event on Saturday, July 14, from 3pm.

A clown, games, races and Maypole dancing as well as a memorabilia exhibition are all lined up.

Celebrations began in May when the school’s oldest former pupil Marjorie Hirst, now 97, unveiled a commemorative plaque.

Jill Hobson, a member of the organising committee, said: “We hope those who weren’t able to be at the unveiling will join us for the picnic so that we can have a happy time exchanging memories and talking about the old days.”

The event takes place on the school’s old playing field, off Stone Moor Road.
