A photographer has launched an appeal to find a camera bag and equipment lost during the Doncaster leg of the Tour de Yorkshire.

Amateur lensman Carl Kay was among thousands of spectators who descended on Doncaster for the cycling spectacular last Saturday - but went home disappointed after losing his camera bag.

Mr Kay said the bag disappeared from a traffic island on Bennetthorpe just before the sprint finish of the race and where he had been taking pictures from throughout day.

He said: "I left my camera bag on the traffic island at the bottom of Bennethorpe, opposite the Grand St Leger Hotel.

"Ironically I took two last photos and the bag is in the photo. I have contacted the police and they have had nothing handed in.

"I have also contacted Doncaster Council but I am waiting for reply.

Added Mr Kay: "The guy in the picture taking photos might be able to help.

"He was taking photos and had a large brown shoulder bag which is on his shoulder, my camera bag can be seen at his feet."

Anyone with information or who can return the bag should contact Mr Kay via email at [email protected].
