AN INDEPENDENT review has been ordered into potential health risks from a new mobile phone mast planned for a South Yorkshire village.

Barnsley Council has commissioned the assessment after concern about the proposed antennae at St Andrew’s Square, Bolton-on-Dearne - for which a planning application has been made.

A spokesman for the authority said: “The council is identifying a company to carry out this assessment. Once selected, a timescale can be put in place and a report submitted. The council will then act on the findings of this report.”
