Petrol station robber caught on camera

DONCASTER police today issued pictures of a suspect who may also have carried out a string of shop cash snatches across the borough.

He glances at the security camera - but makes no attempt to disguise himself before trying to commit an armed robbery at a Doncaster filling station.

Detectives are appealing for information about the latest incident, an alleged attempted armed robbery at a Texaco petrol station kiosk near Skellow on Saturday August 4 at 9.40pm.

A woman member of staff served a young man at the White Rose filling station on the Great North Road, A1 northbound carriageway, near the Five Lane Ends junction and he then produced a black handgun from his bag and pointed it at her.

He asked her to open the till but fled empty-handed.

The assistant has confirmed the man in the picture is the suspect.

Enquires by Doncaster CID have linked him with other offences at Spar convenience stores.

"Retail outlets should be aware that it is believed that this male may be connected to similar incidents in Sprotbrough and Armthorpe on August 6 and 8 where the male paid for a small item and when the till was open, reached across and grabbed cash from the till," said Det Con Mary O'Shea.

"The perpetrator has used the same method and looks like the same person involved in the Skellow offence."

The suspect is described as a white male, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, slim build, with short, skinhead-style haircut.

He was wearing a pair of blue jeans, and a zip-up top which was fastened up to the neck and light grey at the top with a white thin stripe separating it from the darker grey or black at the bottom and he was carrying a rucksack.

Doncaster Police want to trace anyone who was in the petrol station shop at the time, or who maybe able to help identify the person in the pictures.

Call Det Con Mary O'Shea on 01302 385139 or 0114 220 2020 quoting incident number 1412 of August 4 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
