Person trapped in two vehicle collision in Sheffield

One person was left trapped in a collision between two cars in Sheffield last night.

Firefighters from Sheffield Central, Rivelin and Elm Lane stations and police were called out to the incident in Pye Bank Road, Neepsend, at 10.55pm.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said firefighters spent more than an hour at the scene and one casualty had become trapped inside one of the vehicles. No further details about injuries or other casualties were available.

Elsewhere, a removals van went up in flames in Snow Lane, Kelham Island, at 1am this morning. Firefighters from Central and Rivelin stations dealt with the blaze. The cause is under investigation.

Arsonists set fire to a pile of litter in the stairwell of an apartment block in Middle Hay Close, Heeley, at 3.15am. Firefighters spent about an hour tackling the blaze.
