A SOUTH Yorkshire amateur choir have won a competition to sing at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall this weekend, prior to an uplifting performance by the rousing Soweto Gospel Choir.

Barnsley-based BeVox, which has four groups who rehearse weekly in Sheffield, Barnsley, Wakefield and Nottingham, won a public vote for the chance to sing in the foyer of the concert hall from 7pm on Sunday.

Fifty singers will take part, performing among others Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now, Perfect Day by Lou Reed and Dancing Queen by Abba.
