Youth theatre audition dates

Wentworth and Thorpe Hesley Youth Theatre are holding auditiions for the popular musical 'Honk!’ at The Trinity Centre in Thorpe Hesley on January 12 and at The Mechanics' Institute in Wentworth on January 19 from 12pm to 3pm.

Full of great songs, humour and drama, this show was written by Andrew Stiles and George Drewe who penned 'Betty Blue Eyes' and the new music for the latest film of Mary Poppins.

The Youth Theatre are particularly looking for new members aged seven to 11 and boys aged 14 plus. An audition fee of £3 is payable at the audition.

'Honk!' is based on the story of The Ugly Duckling'. As Ida awaits the hatching of her brood she gets a 'big' shock when her enormous egg hatches into a 'monster'! He is christened Ugly by his cruel brothers and sisters and forced to flee the farm and find out the truth of who he really is.

Wentworth and Thorpe Hesley Youth Theatre was established in 2007 and is a producing company creating original musicals and plays for performance in community venues. The group accept young people aged between eight and 21.

Membership of the Youth Theatre is £20 a year and subs are payable weekly of £3. Rehearsals take place every Sunday in term time between 12pm and 3pm in The Trinity Centre in Thorpe Hesley. Full details are on the theatre group’s Facebook page.
