Young woman airlifted to hospital after falling from horse in Sheffield

A young woman was airlifted to hospital with extensive injuries after falling from her horse in Sheffield.

The 30-year-old suffered a nasty fall in Bolsterstone yesterday, Sunday, January 31, sustaining injuries including a suspected fractured shoulder, spinal pain and possible rib damage.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team came to her aid shortly after 1pm and Yorkshire Air Ambulance was also called to the scene.

Rescuers said she was immobilised inside a vacuum mattress and prepared to be stretchered to the air ambulance.

It was the second call-out that day for the team, who that morning came to the aid of a 67-year-old woman at Holly Hall near Stocksbridge who had fallen and injured her leg.

Police release update on Sheffield murder investigation as trio bailed

Rescuers applied a splint to the injury before preparing her to be stretchered back to the ambulance which was waiting on the road.

The rescue team has wished both women a ‘speedy recovery’ from their respective injuries.
