Why Rosie and Freddy are getting all dressed up in Sheffield for the NHS clap each Thursday

The eight year old began dressing up in a different outfit every Thursday evening, to take part in the NHS clap, and is planning to keep it up as long as lockdown continues - raising funds for NHS Charities together in the process.

So far, Rosie - along with next door neighbour Freddy Birch, aged seven - has raised £165 to support the NHS.

“Luckily we have quite a few costumes around the house, but we’re having to get a bit more creative as the weeks go on,” said Rosie’s mum, Jo Andrews.

“She and Freddy are having a great time dressing up, and our neighbours in Green Moor have been enjoying seeing what they wear each Thursday night.

“A lot of our family, friends and neighbours have sponsored them, along with staff and parents from Rosie’s school, Cawthorne Primary.”

And Rosie has also adopted the nickname ‘the secret cake fairy’ around her village, after leaving baked goods for lots of elderly residents in the area.

Jo added: “Rosie loves to bake, and she began leaving buns and cakes at people’s homes in isolation, as a bit of a treat.

“One of our neighbours, a lovely lady in her 90s, left a message on her gate thanking the Secret Cake Fairy, which was really nice.

“We’ve lived in this village for three years and there’s a terrific sense of community spirit here.”
