Chesterfield, Rotherham, Barnsley, the Dearne Valley, Dronfield and the Hope Valley all have S-prefix codes – so there was plenty of non Steel City folk prepared to wade in and have their say.

“S63, no doubt about it,” said one, pledging their support for an area which includes Bolton-on-Dearne, Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe, Brampton, Wath-on-Dearne and West Melton.

“S61 is best,” said another, throwing their weight behind a district where Greasbrough, Kimberworth, Rockingham and Thorpe Hesley are the main locations.

“Big up S74,” wrote another, backing Elsecar, Hoyland and Jump in Barnsley while votes also came in for S36 (Penistone, Thurlstone, Millhouse Green, Oxspring, Stocksbridge and Deepcar among others), S7 (Abbeydale, Carter Knowle, Nether Edge, Millhouses) and another wrote: “S71 and ya cant tell me no different.”
