Urgent call to help Sheffield's most vulnerable and homeless

The Cathedral Archer Project is calling on residents of the city to help it continue its vital work by making donations.

A spokesman said: “These are unprecedented and frightening times and we hope that you and your loved ones are in good health.

“At the Archer Project, in line with Government advice, we continue to remain open supporting homeless and vulnerable adults.

“You can support us now. Will you help us to remain there for homeless and vulnerable people as we fight Covid-19?

“As we are sure you appreciate, as a charity that exists to protect and care for homeless and vulnerable people, we are concentrating on how to care for homeless people in a safe and sustainable way.

“Food, laundry, showers and health services are needed now more than ever.

“We are doing all we can to help mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus on their health and well-being.”

They continued: “We have cancelled fundraising events and are already feeling the impact of reduced donations causing a considerable strain on our resources.

“Consequently, we are appealing for help to continue our work.”

The charity is asking if people can make a donation of £25.

The basic services provided by the Cathedral Archer Project i n clude one to one support and signposting, provision of in-house nurse and dental clinics, and access to hot food and showers.

The spokesman added: “We run a programme of activities to help people learn skills and enjoy new experiences and gain accreditation.

“We offer a structured volunteer programme to help people to grow their confidence and increase their employability.

“We continue to think carefully about the best ways to help homeless people to lead fulfilling, stable and enjoyable lives.”
