South Yorkshire Police said 11 bikes left unclaimed in their property stores have gone to a new home this week at Ruskin Mill Trust, which supports children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The bikes, all of which have been found or recovered by officers, will be used at their school in Sheffield and Outdoor Learning Centre.

Hide AdPolice Constable Simon Fysh said: “These bikes have come from a variety of sources, some have been abandoned by offenders as they try to evade officers, others have been recovered during searches.
“Whilst we will always try and reunite property with any rightful owner, there are inevitably some bikes which get left behind in our stores.
“We were really pleased when the Ruskin Mill Trust said they would take them off our hands for their work with children and young people, it’s brilliant that they will get a new lease of life.”
The Ruskin Mill Trust started in the early 1980s and now has schools, colleges and residential centres across the country, which support children and adults with SEND.

Hide AdBethan Davies, Fundraiser for the Trust said: “These bikes will be brilliant for our students, as they’ll be learning bike repair skills, as well as gaining confidence for cycling both road and mountain bikes.
“We’re really excited about taking these bikes back with us to their new home. It is great to repurpose something old into something that will be appreciated by our students.”
