Two families £500 out of pocket for birthday party as Air Haus inflatables park in Sheffield suddenly closes
Jamie, from Rotherham, says the two families are considering “cutting their losses” and booking elsewhere
Two Sheffield families are £500 out of pocket after booking an exclusive birthday party for 50 kids at the suddenly closed Sheffield inflatables play park Air Haus.
Jamie, from Rotherham, has a joint party booked for his two sons, whose sons are Oscar, 7 and Jacob, 10, and another family however Air Haus Meadowhall Ltd has been unreachable for a refund on the deposit since the venue closed down.
The dad-of-two says the two families are considering “cutting their losses” and booking elsewhere to avoid tears on the big day - October 25.
Air Haus, which was previously known as AK Leisure Group before that company went into liquidation, said in an automated email reply to Jamie that “Air Haus is currently closed while we work hard behind the scenes to get back open”.
It continues: “We are currently working our way through all existing bookings in date order, as well as processing refunds and responding to customer enquiries.
“Our phoneline is also temporarily unavailable, so we kindly ask for your patience and understanding while our team works through everything as quickly as possible.”
Jamie said: “It was a joint birthday party - three birthdays all together - so we booked it for exclusive hire for over 50 kids to turn up.
“So it’s quite a shock to find out - we’ve not been contacted at all. We found out from their Facebook page but there are other people in the same situation. Now it’s just finding another venue for the kids - which is a bit of a last minute panic.
“We’re out of pocket a lot more than the normal amount and it’s difficult to know whether they are definitely not going to open or if they do open and then we’ve booked twice and out of pocket for two parties.
“We’ve tried ringing them, emailing them, Facebook, but had nothing at all from them.”
The Star has been unable to contact Air Haus Meadowhall Ltd.
In a post on its Facebook page Air Haus wrote: “Air Haus is currently temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Please do not travel to us this weekend.
“We have been in touch with all existing bookings and will continue to contact anyone with a future booking directly.
“We hope to know more about reopening in the coming days. Thank you for your patience.”
