Tributes to popular Sheffield union leader as death announced
Well known figure battled for teachers
Tributes have been paid to a popular Sheffield union official who battled for the rights of teachers for years.
Vicky Seddon died peacefully on August 21, say loved ones of the woman who was a senior campaigner in Sheffield with the further and higher education union NATFHE.
She was also a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.

An activist and champion for democracy, she formerly coordinated Sheffield for Democracy and chaired the organisation Unlock Democracy.
She served as a regional secretary and then national treasurer for her union, NATFHE.
Loved ones said in a death notice in The Star: “She will also be remembered for The Cutting Edge about the role of women during the Miners' strike.”
The Cutting Edge was a book written by Vicky.
Her funeral service is due to take place at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium on Saturday, October 3 at 10.30 am.
Tributes have been paid to Vicky on Facebook.
Paul Mackney, the former Joint General Secretary of the University and College Union, was among those paying tribute.
He said: “I've just heard this sad news. Vicky was a central to the transformation of NATFHE into a strong trade union, with many more women activists and which came to lead the whole movement on equality issues.
“It is important to remember that, in the early 1980s, there was only one woman on the NEC; Vicky was one of the leading women members to change that.
“We had stood against each other when I was elected general secretary and Vicky remained national treasurer at a very difficult time during my first year in office. My solidarity and condolences to Vicky's family, friends and comrades.”
