Tributes paid to South Yorkshire police officer Sandra Edwards on the anniversary of her death
She died in the line of duty
Police have paid tribute to an officer who died in the line of duty 31 years ago today.
On May 10, 1995, 26-year-old PC Sandra Edwards lost her life while responding to reports of a stolen vehicle in Barnsley.

The Police Remembrance Trust says that the young officer passed away two days after sustaining injuries during a collision while in pursuit of a car.
Earlier this year, the family of PC Edwards were awarded the Elizabeth Emblem, which recognises the sacrifices of public servants.
Now, on the 31st anniversary of her death, South Yorkshire Police have put out a tribute commemorating her sacrifice.
A spokesperson for the local force said: “Today we are remembering PC Sandra Edwards, who died in the line of duty on this day in 1995.
“PC Edwards was responding to reports of a stolen vehicle in Barnsley, during which she was involved in a road traffic collision where she sustained fatal injuries.
“Our thoughts are with her loved ones on this difficult day.”
