“Our customers can still visit the nearby Outfit Rotherham, Topshop Topman Sheffield Meadowhall or shop online at Topshop.com and Topman.com.”

Arcadia has already closed a number of other Topshop and Topman stores across the country since the start of January.

The firm experienced tough trading conditions at Christmas and the firm’s store closures are the latest blow for Doncaster’s retail sector.

The stores have been a feature of Doncaster’s shopping scene for decades and are bowing out with a 70% off sale.

Topshop has around 500 shops worldwide – of which some 300 are in the UK and started as a brand extension of the department store Peter Robinson in the 1960s.

Topman was created in the UK towards the end of the 1970s to provide a new approach to menswear retailing.

Both stores in the Frenchgate Centre now share the same retail space but in previous years had been separate stores.
