Freeview has announced it’s ‘no longer viable’ to broadcast some channels from Sheffield due to the ‘complexity of the changes required to update TV signals’.

These channels are: FreeSports, Jewellery Maker, Now 80s, Forces TV and Trans World Radio.

A spokesperson for Freeview said: “We understand viewers will be disappointed with this change, but the vast majority of channels will continue as normal.”

Other channels that are affected are mostly +1 or HD variants, such as BBC Four HD and Channel 4+1 HD – although the main versions of these will still be available on Freeview.

Viewers with Freeview Play equipment and other Smart TVs can also watch programmes from a number of these channels on-demand, including in HD on BBC iPlayer.

Programmes may also be available on the Freeview mobile app.
