Sheffield residents will be sleeping on the streets in a bid to raise awareness and cash for an organisation that runs a day centre for homeless adults.

On March 27 The Cathdral Archer Project host their sleep out with Crystal Peaks Shopping Mall and Retail Park to support their work with homeless people in the city.

Crystal Peaks centre manager Lee Greenwood said: “It is now 13 years since the Cathedral Archer Project launched their sleep out at Crystal Peaks and we are delighted that in 2020 we are able to welcome them back to where it all started.

“Crystal Peaks takes great pride in being at the heart of the community it serves.

“The problems of homelessness can affect people of all ages at any time and we feel it is important to support the Cathedral Archer Project as it continues to provide a much needed lifeline and giving assistance when it is needed most.

“Although we appreciate that taking part in an organised sleep out can only offer a temporary small sense of how it must feel to face life on the streets, we also know that the money raised will make an enormous difference to the much valued work of the Cathedral Archer Project.”

Over the years many people have chosen to spend the night roughing it.

“Everyone who takes part experiences what it is like to sleep on the streets for just one night, without the creature comforts we might take for granted in our own homes”, added Lee.
