South Yorkshire MP praises NHS staff after birth of first child

Baby Persephone, named after the Greek goddess of spring, was born in the early hours of St George's Day, weighing 7lb 11oz.

Mr Stafford praised staff on the labour ward of Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital who looked after the pair and gave a special thanks to the midwives who were by his wife's side throughout the delivery process.

He said both mother and baby are doing well at home, after a stay in hospital.

Mr Stafford said: “It's a very exciting time , I've had a day and a half getting to know her.

"Persephone was born on St George's day, and because of the coronavirus, I couldn't visit - a couple of hours after the birth I had to leave, and didn't see them for four days.”
