The organisation says it wants to give the “hidden heroes” across their stations and support teams the recognition they deserve.

“We know our staff can often make a massive difference to people’s lives through their work to make local people safer - whether it’s attending emergencies, fitting smoke alarms, visiting schools or helping out in their communities,” they say.

Anyone who works for the service can be nominated.

People can nominate by posting on the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Facebook page, explaining why their nominee should be recognised. You don’t have to remember the names of those who helped, as long as you know the area and date you received good service.

Alternatively, people can email [email protected].

The service says it will share its favourite stories on social media, with the overall winners receiving Long Service Good Conduct awards.
