A six-year-old schoolboy has sent a heart-warming letter to South Yorkshire Police to thank them for “keeping us safe”.

Bramley Sunnyside Infant School pupil Fraser, who is in Year two, sent his best wishes to officers for a merry Christmas and happy New Year in a handwritten festive message.

The letter read: “Dear the police,

"Thank you for keeping us all safe all of the time. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”

South Yorkshire Police posted on Facebook: “This has brightened our day up - what a lovely letter for our officers to receive!”

Fraser received plenty of compliments for his kind message and “lovely joined-up handwriting”.

Joby El Hobak wrote: “What beautiful handwriting for a six-year-old. Well done Fraser.”

Christine Wilson said: “Good lad Fraser. Santa will bring you nice things for Christmas.”

Joan Cox added: “Well done Fraser. I agree with you. We should thank the police. They do a very difficult job.”
