You Are A Limited Edition is described as ‘an inspiring collection of student lived experiences’ and features the stories of 25 young people from across the UK, who talk about issues relating to LGBTQ, racism, mental health, imposter syndrome, toxic masculinity, disability amongst others.

Cody Croxall, a recent accounting and finance graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, said: “Sharing my story has allowed me to reflect on my journey and see that there were ups and downs that I have been able to overcome and that have helped me grow.

“I hope that this helps others to feel inspired when they feel like they cannot do something and have that self-belief and confidence in their abilities.”

Lauren Dennis, who is undertaking an apprenticeship with Leadership Through Sport and Business, added: “I am grateful for being part of something so special - I feel so honoured to be able to share my story. I want people to know that it is okay not to be okay and it is okay to admit it.

“The first step is to admit it to yourself first, and once you do, it gets easier to share with others. Everyone goes through struggles, so you are not alone, you do not have to be a product of your environment.”

The book is a project that has been created by TG Consulting, an independent education consultancy which specialises in employability, student engagement and social mobility.

Tonia Galati, the project leader who supports the students directly, told how the idea for the book was created at the start of the pandemic, which has seen many struggle mentally, physically and economically.

She believed it was important to provide a platform for young people to share their struggles and experiences, to celebrate how far they have come and to provide reassurance and support to others who may be going through similar experiences.

Tonia said: “We are very proud of the authors for sharing their stories and for showing their vulnerability because that’s a very hard thing to do.”

Although raising funds is a key aim, she hopes that the diverse narratives within the book will help to educate people too.

Tonia added: “The book is also to help people who run organisations to understand youth a little bit better, rather than assuming.”

Students voices’ are at the forefront, which is particularly valuable for those who are widely under represented.

Profits from the book will go towards creating partnerships with other organisations, supporting employment for students through providing work experience and helping to reduce the digital divide.
