Sheffield’s Westfield Health awarded with commemorative scroll to mark its centenary

Having celebrated its 100th anniversary recently, Sheffield's award-winning health insurance provider Westfield Health has achieved yet another significant milestone.

In a presentation ceremony that took place on Tuesday (December 17) at its headquarters in the city centre, Lord Mayor Coun Tony Downing awarded the company a commemorative scroll to mark its centenary.

The commemorative scroll is a special token of appreciation from the city to the company's achievement the past century and the company's positive contribution to the local community.

The decision to award the scroll to Westfield Health was made following a vote of thanks and recognition of the company's centenary year in the council meeting in July.

Reflecting on his 34-year tenure at the company, Westfield Health chairman, Graham Moore said: "We are honoured to receive this recognition from the city of Sheffield which has been Westfield Health's inspiration and home for a century.

"Over the last 100 years Westfield Health has grown, adapted and flourished to become the organisation it is today.

"What hasn't changed is our mission - from the original penny-in-the pound cheme to the corporate wellbeing solutions we offer today, making a healthy difference is what makes us who we are."

Lord Mayor Coun Downing said: "Westfield Health has been a hugely positive legacy in the city, and to this day they are helping so many people - not just through the direct care given, but also their charitable donations.

"As such the Council has presented a special token of appreciation, from the city, to Westfield in the form of a scroll to say a big thank you to Westfield on its centenary year."

Founded to support the four Sheffield hospitals in 1919, Westfield Health now provides cash plans, health insurance and wellbeing services to more than 450,000 customers and 8,000 business across the UK.

Westfield Health CEO, Dave Capper, who’s spearheaded the company’s diversification from health insurance into wellbeing said: “100 years is an incredible milestone, and we’re grateful to the Lord Mayor and council members for taking the time to celebrate a local business’s continued success.“Our focus now is ensuring we build a business that not only survives but thrives for the next 100 years so that we can continue to make a healthy difference and give back to the communities in which we live and work.”
