Sheffield’s The Book Club ex-drummer Anthony Allen dies
Former Sheffield-based The Book Club drummer, Anthony Allen has passed away, his family has announced.
In a Facebook post, his father, Graham Allen said his son, who was affectionately called 'Ant', passed away at his home in Sheffield on May 7 (Friday) after a long struggle with anxiety, depression and addiction.
He wrote: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son Anthony Edward Allen, following a long struggle with anxiety, depression and addiction.
"Ant passed away at his home in Sheffield on Friday the 7th of May 2021. He will be deeply missed by myself, his mum Mary and his sister Bryony.
"The funeral service is yet to be organised. We will post the information online when arrangements have been finalised."
His family has also launched a fundraising page in Anthony's memory with proceeds going to the charities close to his heart.
In a moving tribute, his former bandmates at The Book Club said: "It is with deepest sadness that we say our former drummer Anthony Allen has died.
"Together, we had some incredible times and have so many treasured memories that we will carry with us.
"He was not only a great talent, but the funniest person in the room with a huge personality and even bigger heart.
"Anthony, one of a kind and we will miss very much. Joe, Pat and Tom x."
Anthony was also one of the founders of a popular clothing line, Skull and Bones Boys Club.
