Dan’s chosen charity was the Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust when he appeared on a celebrity special of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? earlier this week.

John Armstrong, Chief Executive at The Children’s Hospital Charity, tweeted: “Absolutely amazing, thank you @mrdanwalker - thanks to all your correct answers we will receive a fantastic £32,000! This donation will help us to continue to deliver the best possible care for all the children and young people that come to @SheffChildrens. Thank you!”

The question that stumped both Dan Walker and Jeremy Clarkson was “‘Hell is other people’ is the English translation of a famous line in a play by which writer?”. Their options were Jean-Paul Sartre, Henrik Ibsen, Anton Chekhov and Bertolt Brecht.

After Clarkson couldn’t assist him, Dan used his 50/50 lifeline but unfortunately guessed the wrong answer and his time on the show came to an end.

Dan Walker took to Twitter after the show was aired and said: “Delighted to win £32,000 for @SheffChildrens. Gutted it wasn’t more for such a great charity. Annoyingly, my other phone-a-friend was Sally Nugent and she knew it was Jean-Paul Sartre. Thanks for watching.”
