Debbie Bell, a 64-year-old woman from Ranmoor, is taking on a fitness and fundraising challenge in honour of her late wife, Ang.

The TRIB3 28 Day Challenge 2023 takes place at boutique fitness studio, TRIB3, located on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield. They offer 28 of their tough workout sessions - all of which must be completed in February - for £40, with participants promising to raise a minimum £100 in sponsorship, with all the money raised going to St Luke’s Hospice.

This year’s challenge aims to raise at least £20,000 and Debbie says it will be worth the exertion as her wife Ang was a St Luke’s patient as she faced the final weeks of her battle against cancer.

“I know just how important St Luke’s is because I saw it for myself when Ang was a patient and it’s something you never forget. I’m doing the challenge for her and for all St Luke’s because we all know colleagues and friends who have needed the hospice” said Debbie.

“This is the third time I have done the challenge and I know my knees are going to struggle.

“What makes it even more difficult is that I’m going to be away for a week in February so I will need to do double sessions some days just to make sure I complete all 28 before the end of February. It’s not just difficult physically – there’s also the mental challenge of getting up every day and knowing you have to do the class.”

A keen supporter of St Luke’s, TRIB3 has already raised more than £60,000 with its previous challenges, including a virtual workout at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic and having a team participate in last year’s Sheffield Half Marathon.
