A Sheffield traffic light has been changed over the weekend to show a Black Power salute when lights turn from red, to amber and then green – following worldwide demonstrations supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Black Power sticker was spotted by a passerby yesterday, who noticed the hand sign had replaced the usual ‘man’ symbol which would light up and indicate if it was safe for pedestrians to walk.

It’s after thousands of people attended a Black Lives Matter protest on Devonshire Green on Saturday, following the death of George Floyd in the United States – a black man who was killed in police custody.

The person responsible for changing the traffic light remains unknown.
