Sheffield Star readers give messages of thanks to those who been kindest to them during the pandemic

It would be an understatement to say this year has presented the toughest most of us have ever lived through.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone in Sheffield, across the country, and across the world, in some way.

We know there have been lots of challenges for everyone but we also know that there have been lots of acts of kindness carried out.

We asked our readers to send us messages of thanks for the people who have been kindest to them during this difficult time.

Malcolm Hall (@_malcolm_hall) said on Twitter: “I'm a huge fan of local musician Harriet Rose @HarrietRose_ and she put the first guitar she bought up for auction to raise career funds. I would have treasured it but couldn't afford to make a bid. A fellow member of her fan group, Kevin Certain, bought it for me in secret.”

Brenda Knowles said: “My Spanish neighbour, Jose, made sure I was ok every day. Thank you so much.”

Tom Stevens said: “Francesca (was) ringing and texting me me when I was having really bad anxiety just to remind me that she was there.”

Tom Stevens was also the recipient of a thank you message. His came from Debbie Whyke who said: Tom Stevens, (thank you for) bringing me shopping at the beginning of lockdown when I had to self isolate, ringing me every other day to chat and sending me funny videos to make me laugh! Love you loads brother even if I don't often show it!”

Shamin Khan gave thanks to many friends. She said: “Shama, Naz, Nilah, Fiaza, Dua, Zara and Tweeti are the most popular friends I have ever known. They are mostly like my angels. Naz makes me laugh, Shama keeps me positive and inspires me, Nilah makes me food, Tweeti gives me kisses, Fiaza is so sweet, Zara smiles and Dua gives me hope and joy.”

Gillian Smith also gave thanks to many. She said: “Kerry Smith, Ann Suckley, Karen Burton and Kathy Eccles Firth helped us move house in June and continued to support me after I had a mini stroke in July. This was due to anxiety, overworking, moving house and keeping my business going whilst staff were furloughed. They still come and help me and make sure I’m not doing too much. Thanks girls. Love you all.”

Natalie Jayde said: “Alex Bonsell, (thank you) for keeping me sane, making me laugh and everyday brightening my day.”

Diane Eastwood she would like to give thanks to her dad, her partner, and rest of her family.
