Corporal Lee Day and Sergeant Vince Fountain make up swing singing duo Soldiers Of Swing – and the pair have made it through to the semi-finals of the ITV talent contest.

Their appearance in the hit ITV show will be aired early next month – when viewers will see if they can secure a place in the final.

The two are now strangers to television talent shows, having already appeared on The Voice.

After the pair of reservists went down a storm in their squadron bar, Sergeant Fountain convinced Corporal Day he really could sing.

Before they knew it, they had bought £1,000 worth of kit and they had started being booked up for gigs.

"Our first gigs were old people's homes, parties for pensioners," said Sergeant Fountain.

The pair face some tough challenges in their bid to be crowned series champions.

NHS nurse Beth Porch is favourite to win while comedian Steve Royle is also hotly tipped.

The remaining hopefuls are going head to head for the £250,000 cash prize and a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.
