Sheffield school to help combat loneliness by hosting tea party

A Sheffield school is hosting yet another community tea party in their effort to combat loneliness and social isolation among the elderly.

Ecclesfield School said the event, which will be held on January 29, was a continuation of the first successful event they hosted two years ago.

And the tea party has now become an important part of the school curriculum in Health and Social Care.

Headteacher of Ecclesfield School, Richard Walkden said: "This is what Ecclesfield School is all about, the students and the community working together.

"The students love these days and it is a joy to see the collaboration amongst all parts of society."

The event, which is 'dementia friendly' and open to all, also offers a wonderful opportunity for people to meet old or new friends, to socialise, to dine or to have a dance.
