There are so many rescue dogs in need of loving homes across South Yorkshire – take a look below at the adorable animals that are dreaming of being adopted soon.
Helping Yorkshire Poundies is an animal charity based in Rotherham which ‘works tirelessly to help dogs on death row’. The charity is currently caring for 17 dogs that are ready to be taken out of the kennel and into a loving home.
Many of these dogs have had difficult pasts but they are now looking for somebody they can trust and depend on for the rest of their lives.
Every one of the dogs below are up for adoption – if you’re interested in taking one of them home, please visit the charity’s website for more information and to complete an application form.
Each dog will be carefully matched up to its new owner to make sure they are the right fit for each other. Whether you’re looking for a new running buddy, or something to relax in the sunshine with, we’re sure there’s a companion here for you.

5. Judy, a Boxer cross
Judy is an amazing girly who’s has arrived at HYP after some rubbish luck in finding a home at other kennels. Judy is only aged around three years old and is so friendly, funny, goofy and loves her cuddles. She is housetrained, travels well, and can be left alone for a few hours with no problems. She can be rehomed with children aged 10+. Judy is 'OK' out and about with other dogs , but will need to be the only pet. She can be strong on the lead and will need a strong handler. Bella is almost four years old and is looking for a quiet home with breed-savvy owners. She is very well behaved, gentle and obedient, and she will do anything for her tennis ball. She is housetrained, travels well and seems comfortable to be left alone for a few hours. Bella loves a good walk – she can pull a little on the lead, but generally walks well. She is generally OK around other dogs, but can occasionally be reactive to some, and will need to be the only pet in her new home. Photo: Helping Yorkshire Poundies
11-year-old Titch arrived at HYP in such a heartbreaking state – he was very, skinny, weak and upset. But he has done so well and is quickly getting his strength back and thankfully, he’s in good health otherwise. Titch loves everyone he meets, and has shown no issues around other dogs and has even ignored cats when he’s been out and about. He is housetrained and walks well on lead. Titch loves his people, and would prefer a home where he’s not left alone for long. Photo: Helping Yorkshire Poundies
Teeny Chloe may only weigh 3 kilograms, but what she lacks in size, she makes up for in character. She is described as being full of personality, bright as a button, and loves to play with toys. The six-year-old is currently in foster and lives with other calm dogs and a cat. She does chase felines at first, but quickly gets used to them. Chloe needs some training on walks as she is very reactive with other dogs. Fortunately she is very smart and trainable and her new owner should help her enjoy her walks to the full.
