The Sheffield pubs and restaurants still offering Eat Out to Help Out discount in September

The hugely popular Eat Out to Help Out scheme is nearing an end, but in a bid to drive sales some venues in Sheffield have decided to extend the discount into September.

The money-saving scheme, announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak, aimed to boost trade at pubs, restaurants and cafés across the country following the Covid-19 lockdown.

It has seen diners enjoying cheaper meals every week throughout August, getting up to 50 per cent off their food and non-alcoholic drinks up to £10 per person when dining in a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Some 84,000 establishments to have participated in the nationwide scheme, claiming back the money they’ve discounted from the government.

And it seems to have had the desired effect of kick-starting the restaurant trade with the most recent figures showing that around 64 million discounted meals were claimed in the first three weeks alone.

As the government scheme nears its end, many venues in Sheffield have decided to continue offering discount meals at their own expense, in the hope of enticing more people to eat out.

Here's some of the venues in the city that have said they will be extending the scheme into September:
