Sheffield pub holds its first-ever friendship lunch to combat loneliness

The event was hailed as a ‘huge success’ with over 40 people in attendance including pensioner Tony Foulds, who inspired the spectacular flypast to remember those who died in the Mi Amigo plane crash in Endcliffe Park, and Graham Moore, chairman of Westfield Health.

Hide AdThe pair said they enjoyed the event and agreed that friendship lunches are a fantastic tool to help combat loneliness and social isolation among the elderly.
More friendship lunches are now planned on April 6 and May 11.
There will also be a Great Get Together/Superjam event where guests can chat and dance at the Holiday Inn, Barnsley, on March 16.
The event starts at 1pm and finishes at 4pm and currently there are around 160 people on the guestlist.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings, will also be giving a short speech.
