The latest draw was promoted by the charity Maggie’s, which runs a network of support centres across the country helping combat the isolation and distress that often accompanies a cancer diagnosis. It has received more than £16.1 million thanks to players of the lottery.

Local charities can next apply for funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery, which has generated more than £500m for good causes across Britain and beyond, in August.
