Sheffield named as one of most family friendly places to live in UK – ahead of Leeds
Sheffield has been named as one of the most family friendly places to live in Britain.
The city made it into a top ten of the the best places to live in England as a family, ranking in eighth spot, ahead of places like Derby, Leeds, Nottingham, Bradford and London.
Collated by children’s brand PlayLikeMum, the league table analysed and scored towns and cities based on how family-friendly they are in a number of categories.
Unlike other location league tables out there, the comprehensive study took into account eight variables that are important to parents to score and rank towns and cities in accordance with their family-friendliness.
These include factors such as the latest figures on crime rates, school standards, child-friendly rated attractions/restaurants and other factors.
Liverpool topped the ranking, with Plymouth taking second spot and Newcastle third.
Sheffield was ranked just behind Manchester in the rundown.
A spokesman said: “If you’re looking for the perfect place to settle down with your family, factors such as quality school, things to do and a low crime rate are important to take into account.
“We’ve ranked the 25 most populated towns and cities in the country on eight family-friendly factors to reveal the best places to settle down and raise a family.”
The average montly cost of childcare in Sheffield is just over £666, while the study says the city has 15% of its schools ranked as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
