Natalie Fothergill had served up the Roosters goujons, which she purchased at the St Mary's branch, as part of an evening family meal on Saturday (February 22).

Her stepchildren, aged 11 and six, were also happily tucking in.

But suddenly her partner ‘nearly choked’ before spitting out a ‘huge bone’ onto the table.

Natalie, from Gleadless, said: “It was a nasty shock. My partner is funny about chicken on the bone or anything like that anyway, so I usually buy the boneless stuff.

“The packet does say may have traces of bone on it, but I wouldn’t expect one as big as that. He could have choked to death.

“I don’t like complaining about anything. But I’m a new mum and it was the fact that it could have been one of the kids that really upset me.”

Natalie contacted Aldi’s customer service team that same night, but claims they were ‘really blasé’ about the experience.

“They promised a response but it’s been four days now and I haven’t heard back," she added.

“Because this is a popular food with children, I really do think it should be raised.”

An Aldi spokesperson said: "Although rare, bones can sometimes be present in chicken products and this is clearly highlighted on the packaging.

“We apologise to Ms Fothergill for her experience with this product and have offered her a full refund.”
