Amy Jackson has won praise on social media after posting a video of herself performing ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ outside her home on Coward Drive, Oughtibridge, following the weekly Clap for Carers which salutes NHS staff and key workers.

Amy, a 33-year-old administrator, explained that she simply loves singing, and that she began her rendition of the number once the applause had finished.

“I also wanted to show my respect and gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and key workers who are doing an amazing job looking after us all, so I thought by singing it would make my tribute a little more personal from me to them.”

Amy said she was ‘nervous all day at the thought of doing it, and very nearly didn’t’.

‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ was written for Judy Garland to sing in the 1938 film of The Wizard of Oz, and became the movie star's signature tune.

Others have been singing for their neighbours in Sheffield too, including pub landlady Jade Billard, who runs The New Anglers pub in Handsworth and made it through to the televised Battle Round of talent contest The Voice in 2015.

People nationwide can post to a group on Facebook with more than 800,000 members called 'Rock The Lockdown'.
