Adira, a mental health support group specifically for the black community, wants to ensure that people can still celebrate Christmas festivities despite the challenging circumstances that the pandemic has forced upon communities.
With the support of various organisations, the hampers will help provide a Christmas lunch for families who will be struggling to feed themselves on December 25.

Hide AdA spokesperson at Adira said: “We recognise that following the devastating effects of Covid-19 on our communities, many people will have lost loved ones or will have experienced the negative impacts Covid-19 has brought to us, i.e. loss of jobs, not able to see loved ones, etc.
“This will undoubtedly put a strain on these families causing them to worry about how they will feed their loved ones this Christmas.”
People will be able to choose from a meat, vegan, vegetarian or Caribbean hamper, and they are expected to feed between six and eight people.
Typical food items will include a frozen turkey, fresh vegetables, Christmas pudding, biscuits, chocolate, rice and peas, plantain, and a small gift.
