David Clowes of Richmond said the leakage, which was spotted in the grounds of Stradbroke Walk, at one point even had its content overflown to a nearby school.
He said after his complaints to the Sheffield City Council fell on deaf ears until he had to resort to ringing the Yorkshire Water, the local office MP, and the environment department.

Mr Clowes said: "It was first reported back in January, but it's been sorted now because I just had enough.
"I'd rung the council, the environment office and I called them many times. Nothing was done about it even though it was causing health and environmental problems.
"I told them it's going to fill up and go to the school so the school reported the problem on Tuesday and Yorkshire Water came out the next day and had a look.

He said the council, which is responsible for the sewage, should have resolved the matter earlier before it became a recurring problem.
Sheffield City Council, when asked for a response, said the leakage was resolved on Friday afternoon.
