Sanctuary has teamed up with Libre Digital to deliver a 12-week course designed to improve computer confidence.

Participants can find out how to get the most out of their mobile phones or laptops, and learn a range of other digital skills including setting up an email address, online shopping and switching energy providers.

Later in January, a new project will help local people boost vital employability skills.

Delivered by Sheffield City Council’s family learning team, the course will see residents identify the abilities they already have, any training they may need and what the right job might be for them.

The programme will include an exciting £50 Challenge where participants will be supported to come up with a creative business idea, develop team-building and marketing skills and help to raise funds for a local charity.

Melanie King, Sanctuary Housing’s neighbourhoods partnerships manager for Shiregreen, said: “One of our main aims for 2020 is to help boost the skills of Shiregreen residents, supporting them into employment, education and training.

“We’ve worked hard with our partners to put together courses covering a wide variety of skills, and I would urge residents to book themselves a place.”

The computer and IT skills course runs on Wednesdays, starting on January 8, from 10am to 1pm at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre, Westnall Road, S5 0AA.

The £50 Challenge course takes place on Mondays from January 20, running from 12.30pm to 3pm, also at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre.
