The club was also recognised by The Club Mirror, the national magazine for Clubs and Institutes, as being the best entertainment club of 2019.

Competition was fierce from over 1,600 eligible clubs in the UK, and Crookes Club, on Mulehouse Road, was judged on the wide and varied entertainment it offers throughout the year.

In addition to the regular live music offered at the club every Saturday night, there are also film premiers, jazz, blues, folk, rock classical concerts, Ceilidh’s, pantomimes, birthday parties and charity fund raising events held there every year. It has also been used as a filming location for the forthcoming Sheffield Musical Jamie.

General manager Maurice Champeau said: “We are overjoyed at being recognised by The Club Awards. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. We made a decision to diversify the club over five years ago and this is now starting to show very positive results.”
