According to David Slater, the managing director of Attercliffe-based property firm Spaces Sheffield, the site adjacent to his SPACES G6 property on Attercliffe Road ‘has been left in a state of ruin and is overrun with fly tipping’.

“The amount of fly-tipping in Attercliffe is getting out of control. This has caused rats to come into the area and the street is a mess,” he said.

He said he has filed a formal complaint to Sheffield City Council, urging them to also take action against the owner of the site, who he claims bought the land last year.

He said the site was earmarked by the council as part of the Attercliffe Waterside regeneration scheme and should not have been sold to a non-stakeholder.

In response, Sheffield Council said an investigation will be launched following the complaint regarding concerns about litter and refuse in the industrial suburb.

Councillor Mark Jones, Cabinet Member of Environment, Streetscene and Climate Change said: “We will investigate the issues raised and contact the relevant property owners and land managers about clearing the land where they are responsible.

“We ask others to report waste issues to help us monitor and deal with it as well as those who cause it, and to keep Sheffield's streets and green spaces clean, safe and unspoilt.”

The council said they will update the complainant as this progresses.

Attempts to contact the owner of the site have been unsuccessful.
