Sheffield churches ‘spread the love’ in nationwide singalong

Church groups in Sheffield set out on a mission to ‘spread the love’ in a nationwide sing a long over the weekend.

St Thomas Crookes Sheffield and Hope City Sheffield were just two of the 65 churches and movements that took part in The UK Blessing.

Representatives across the country came together as a collective, to bless the nation through words and music online yesterday.

They said: “Standing together as one. Our desire is that this song will fill you with hope and encourage you.”

Continuing to pray has been encouraged by members, in what is currently described as a unique and challenging time during lockdown.

“Let us all continue to pray in all things, over our households, our neighbours, frontline workers, the poor, the nations and all those impacted by Covid-19.

“Pray for what God places on your heart,” they added.

Churches in other parts of the world have created their own singalongs too but the UK’s version has so far been described as ‘powerful’, ‘beautiful’ and ‘inspirational’ by listeners from all over the country.

It is ‘just what the UK needs’ said another listener.

Despite church buildings being closed, members have said ‘the church is very much alive’.

Some have been assisting with supplying meals to the vulnerable and isolated individuals of society.

Others have been supporting people with phone calls, medication and shopping deliveries, while some have been providing meals to the frontline staff of the NHS.
