Sheffield care home Wood Hill Lodge receives seal of approval

Horizon Care’s Wood Hill Lodge, on Grimesthorpe Road, was given a rating of ‘good’ from its latest Care Quality Commission report.

The report demonstrates that despite the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic Wood Hill Lodge is rated ‘good’ in the areas of safe, well led and effective.

The report commends the home leadership stating, “the service has an open positive culture, staff feel part of a team that is committed to providing good quality care”.

A staff member stated: “I love working here and the standard of care we provide. People are safe here, there is a good mix of staff and we are a good team.” Another member of staff added: “The manager is very approachable, they have an open-door policy. Management are lovely, they all show you respect no matter what your position is.”

The report highlighted that there were robust systems in place to assess and respond to risks regarding the spread of infections, including those associated with Covid-19. The inspector noted that the home team was adhering to regular client and staff testing, promoting safety through the layout and hygiene practices of the home and that PPE was being used effectively and safely.

Wood Hill Lodge is a purpose built home which has been designed to support people living with dementia. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for people in Sheffield and surrounding areas.
